Dave Matthews

Technology Advisor

David Matthews is a Senior Technology Advisor to Matthews has over 35 years of experience in financial services in COO and CIO roles at the FHLBC, Royal Bank of Canada Mortgage, Ultraprise and JPMorgan Chase Home Finance. He began his career as a management consultant at Booz,Allen&Hamilton. He has held numerous management, strategy, operations, technology and legal positions in the fields of management consulting, financial services and the not for profit sector.

Most recently, Matthews worked in the not for profit sector at the National Restaurant Association as General Counsel and as CIO. During his career in financial services, Matthews headed technology for the Mortgage Partnership Finance Program at the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago as CIO. He was the President and COO of the Royal Bank of Canada’s (RBC Mortgage US) US mortgage operations, growing a branch network from 40 locations to over 250, through acquisitions and organic growth. Under his leadership, RBC Mortgage US exceeded $20 billion of annual originations and installed new originations and underwriting platforms. He ran an internet mortgage B2B platform at a startup, Ultraprise, supervising the development of the platform and managing the transition of the company from a garage startup to a fully venture funded organization, raising $15 million. At JPMorgan Chase, as CIO of Chase Home Finance, he was responsible for a $100 million budget, a staff of over 500 and six data centers. He led the effort to consolidate data centers into two corporate facilities and led the development and implementation of the first laptop loan origination system and artificial intelligence bases automated underwriting system.

Matthews, a member of the Pennsylvania Bar, received a BA from Beloit College and a JD from the University of Pittsburgh. He is a regular speaker at technology, innovation, food service and payments conferences.
